This guide defines and explains the literature review process.

Finding Literature Reviews in Ebsco databases

The University subscribes to a wide variety of databases through Ebsco such as Academic Search Premier, ERIC, and Business Source Complete, to name a few.  You cannot limit by document type in MOST of them but can find literature reviews by incorporating the term into the search. 

  • Type your search term in the first search box.
  • Type literature review in the second search box.

A few of the Ebsco databases do have some other options in the "Limit Your Results" section.

For CINHAL:

  • On the main (advanced) search page, under "Search Options" find the drop down menu for "Publication Type."
  • Select "Systematic Review."

For PsycInfo:

  • On the main (advanced) search page, under "Search Options" find the drop down menu for "Methodology."
  • Select "Literature Review."

Finding Literature Reviews in ABI-Inform Collection

Using the advanced search screen option:

  • Type your search terms.
  • Scroll down into "Search options" to find "Document type."
  • Scroll in the box to find and select "Literature Review."
