Issues with Finding Full Text in ERIC
Important Message About Searching the ERIC database:
If you are searching the ERIC Database and click on the full text of an ERIC document, you may have seen a message from database provider stating that the full text of the article is not available due to privacy issues. This is an issue that ERIC is trying to remedy as quicky as possible. In the mean time, try some of these tips and tricks to finding full text.
- Limit to peer-reivewed articles. This problem is exclusive to ERIC documents which are not peer reviewed, so limiting to peer-reviewed artticles will reduce the occurance of this issue.
- If you want a specific report, white paper, or conference proceeding, try Googling the title and finding it elswhere on the web. I have had a 90% success rate using this method. Often the government reports are also kept on the department’s website and authors sometimes keep copies of their work on personal websites.
- Email the author or department and ask for a copy of the document. They often respond.
- Request that a document be returned to its online glory by emailing ERICRequests@ed.gov with the record number. This may take several weeks,
