ITM 5600 - Information and Communications Security/ SECR 5080 - Information Systems Security (Washington)

Where do I begin?

Webster University LibraryWhere do you begin, you ask?

This guide outlines library resources for an assignment given by Professor  Paul Washington to his ITM5600 and SECR5080 students at Webster University campuses at JB Bolling and Ft. Belvoir. The tabs above provide suggestions for selecting resources for this course and tips for searching.

Next, ask yourself "Who's writing about the topic you selected?"

Professor Washington selected the publications on the "eMagazines on the Web" tab.  Here you may start to find out how and how much people in the computer industry are talking /writing about the products/category you have chosen.  That is, what does the industry call ' Security Information and Event Manager' products/category?  What are some other software/products that fit within the category?  It may help to start by searching for the product name examples your professor has given you.

Next, using keywords and product names from the industry eMagazines, websites and blogs, you might then search more traditional magazines and trade periodicals using the ABI/Inform database linked from the "Magazines and trade periodicals" tab.  If you need more technical/theoretical  information, you might search for journal articles; there is a tab for those on the research guide.

For additional databases and library services see the main Business & Management  or the Information Techology Management research guide.
